Thank You Congressman Jordan!
We would like to thank our District 4 US House Representative Jim Jordan for co-sponsoring H.R. 1717 to repeal and replace the flawed Medicare bidding program with the Market Pricing Program. Congressman Jordan has been a good listener and now has taken action to right a wrong. CMS (Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services) has stubbornly insisted on continuing to implement a bidding program for home medical equipment that has been denounced as fatally flawed by 244 renowned economists. The second round is still scheduled to go into effect in July of this year expanding from 9 bid areas to 100. The problems are numerous including unlicensed bid winners and unsustainable low bid prices due to non binding bids, no transparency in the process and a winner take all mentality. Many businesses have already gone under and patient access as well as quality of care will suffer even more as the program expands. With an aging population and the cost effective option of caring for people in their home it only makes sense to build on the base of experienced providers and welcome new businesses for real competition. Instead this program eliminates 80 to 90% of providers based on a mirage of imagined cost savings. Please take a moment to email Congressman Jordan a note of thanks for looking after our seniors and others in need of these valuable services. Also, contact our Senators and encourage them to introduce a companion bill so that we can stop wasting taxpayer dollars on a program that has no basis in reality when it comes to solving the problem of rising healthcare costs.
